The Project is designed to meet the critical needs of Directorate-General for Cultural Assets and Museums (KVMGM) in preserving and managing the country’s vast cultural heritage. KVMGM delivers a comprehensive range of services, and MUES is and will be enabling the following services to be operated at digital environment through its web-based integrated platforms:

  • Cultural Asset Identification, Registration, and Protection for future generations,
  • Museum Management (KVMGM oversees the establishment and administration of public museums, which serve as custodians of Türkiye’s cultural assets. Currently, 215 public museums under KVMGM house 3.7 million artifacts. KVMGM also supervises 309 private museums and collectors who manage almost 500 thousand cultural assets),
  • Conservation and Restoration through 12 Regional Laboratories,
  • Prevention of illicit-trafficking and forgery
  • Educational Publications and Social Media (KVMGM spreads awareness about cultural heritage by fostering a sense of shared responsibility among the public for preserving Türkiye’s cultural legacy)
  • Digital Inventory of Cultural Assets (KVMGM maintains an extensive digital inventory of movable and immovable cultural assets. These databases enhance access for researchers, institutions, and the public, promoting greater transparency and accountability in cultural preservation)


Key features of the MUES systems are:

  • Encyclopedic Data (MUES contains detailed data on artifacts, including their spatial information, their restoration history, reports on illicit activities and much more)
  • Lifecycle Management (It tracks the artifacts journey from discovery to excavation, all the way to their exhibition, while ensuring their proper care and use)
  • Data Analytics (By maintaining and analyzing diverse datasets, MUES hugely aids institutions to better understand historical contexts and patterns, while at the same time striking a delicate balance between conservation priorities, operational needs and public Access)
